Hanif qualifed in 1985 at the university of Amsterdam achieving a qualification of Tandarts University of Amsterdam, which is equivalent to a BDS degree. He has worked in the UK since 1986, initially as an associate and since 1988 as a principle at Moti Smile Design Centre and Briarmeads Dental Practice. He has served in the LDC for almost 20 years as a member; a joint treasurer and in the last 7 years as the LDC chair, supported by a very able and motivated local Dental Committee. Hanif has been involved in dental foundation training and has mentored and trained newly qualified dentists for more than 25 years. Away from work Hanif enjoys playing badminton and has a great interest in football. He has two wonderful daughters and a lovely wife who support him in his work.
Philip qualified from the University of Liverpool in 1982 and has worked in general dental practice in Leicester since then. He currently owns two practices in Leicester and also works one day a week as dental adviser to the Health Service Ombudsman. He is a past chair of LDC and is currently Vice Chair. As the elected Leicestershire representative on BDA’s General Dental Practice Committee he is a co-opted member of LDC. Philip is also responsible for writing, editing and publishing the LDC newsletter.
Ash qualified in 2001 from University of Manchester and then moved back to Leicestershire to begin a career in General Dental Practice. He currently is a practice principal in Leicester and Market Harborough and has been a DFT trainer since 2009. He also joined the LDC in 2009 as its Secretary, a position he now shares with Ruby..
Dr Ruby Mahal is joint principle and owner at JDRM Dental Care. She qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2005 with a Bachelor in Dental Surgery. Thereafter, spent 2 years gaining experience in maxillofacial surgery in hospital dentistry. She has a keen interest in general dentistry and training. Ruby shares her time between clinical dentistry, training young dentists and examining dentists for the Royal College of Surgeons Faculty of Dental Surgery, of which she is a member. Having a keen interest in local dental politics, Ruby has been elected to represent the local profession as Secretary of the Local Dental Committee for Leicestershire. Outside of dentistry, Ruby enjoys playing Netball, travelling to places she’s never visited, spending time with her young family, wine and cooking (contrary to her husband’s beliefs).
